I went home ill after working in excess of 60% of my normal working day.

I then phoned in sick the next day, but felt improved by midday so I got on with a work related task whcih worked out to be for around 60% of my normal working day.

My boss accepts I worked from home, but wants me to complete a self certification and take a sick day for 2 x 50% days, to make one whole day.

As I worked in excess of 60% of my normal hours on both days, I don’t believe I should have to log it as a sick day. My last job wouldn’t have put it down as a sick day.

The employee handbook only mentions ringing in before 10am on the first day of sickness, and doesnt mention a process to follow for part days.
We’re a relatively young company, so it’s not a surprise that all eventualities are not covered.

I’ve previously only had 1 sick day in 2 years, so I want to maintain my good record as much as possible.

ok it’s not the end of the world either way, but guidance would be nice.
