Can I just ask what other companies do regarding night shift workers and bank holidays.
For example, Xmas eve falls on a Monday this year. If a worker is due to work a night shift on tis date, they cannot as this runs into Xmas day.
In the past our bosses have insisted that they book a holiday for this date and this was not questioned and was normal practise. We now have new owners who have stated that they will get the night off and be paid for a normal shift, there is no need to book a holiday. As you can imagine they are delighted with this. However the days shift are now whingeing as the night shift are getting a night off with pay and they are getting nothing!
What do other companies do? As always any suggestions and advice welcome.
