Dear all

An excellent employee is working with us on a student visa and we are currently in the midst of helping him obtain a further visa. The application has been made and we are awaiting a decision. In the meantime, his current permits runs out next week thus he will not be allowed to remain in the country until we have received a (hopefully positive) response to the application. My question is should we terminate his contract (and if so on what grounds) or just suspend him without pay? I would like to just suspend him as it should only be for a couple of weeks and I don’t want to mess up his continuity of service.

Thanks

Mary
