A recent gender equality survey by Michael Lewin solicitors shows that almost two-thirds of women are worried that going on maternity leave will have a negative effect on their career prospects.
The survey, which asked over 200 women about how they feel they are treated within the workplace, shows that many employers have a long way to go towards making women feel as comfortable as men do in their jobs.
78 women feel as though they have personally been affected by gender equality within the workplace, and over half of all the participants think men progress faster than women at their place of work.
