Restrictive Covenant definition

Contractual clauses that prevent employees from working for competitors or setting up in direct competition to their employer during the course of their employment, and often for a specific period of time after the employment is over. These clauses may also include provisions against employees using relationships with clients for personal financial gain, or for the financial gain of a competitor.
