HR hits rock bottom in the boredom list

pp_default1

HR is less boring than media or law but not as interesting as accountancy or teaching, according to graduates who work in the profession.

The Training and Development Agency for Schools has published its Work Boredom Index which has turned popular myths – such as accountancy being boring and the media being interesting – around.

Even so, half the graduates surveyed are regularly bored at work. But it’s those in administration, manufacturing, sales and marketing are the most likely to be wishing their working life away.

Employees surveyed say they are mainly bored because of the lack of challenge in their jobs (61 per cent), while not using their skills or their knowledge makes life tedious for 60 per cent. And 50 per cent said they were bored because they were doing the same things every day.

Half of those employees who are bored have considered changing their profession in the last year.
