HRD & Payroll Solutions continues to bring HR Zone members a range of HR tips. This week's tip looks at recording disciplinary hearings.
Q: How important is it to keep a record of a disciplinary hearing? I cannot listen, think and write at the same time!
A: It is very important – and none of us can do these three things at the same time.
One way is to have someone in the meeting to take notes, though that person also is likely to find things moving more quickly than he or she can write.
By all means make the notes yourself, but slow things down. Ask the question, consider the reply, pause the meeting, make your notes, then carry on. Keep doing that. Easy.
