Verity Gough, feature writer for HRZone.co.uk, has been recognised for the quality of her work after winning the specialist media prize at the Avanta Press Awards this week.
The awards honour journalists whose writing demonstrates a clear awareness of the issues surrounding employment and skills. Articles from both HRZone.co.uk and sister site TrainingZone.co.uk were shortlisted for the prize.
Gough, pictured above with Sunder Katwala, general secretary of the Fabian Society (left), and Janette Faherty, CEO of Avanta (right), said: “I am really thrilled to receive this award – not only as a personal achievement but also to show the expertise of the editorial team on both HRZone.co.uk and TrainingZone.co.uk.”
Editor of HRZone.co.uk Lucie Mitchell, who was also shortlisted in the same category, remarked: “I am delighted that Verity’s hard work has finally been given the recognition it deserves. It is also a huge honour for HRZone.co.uk to be associated with an award that recognises journalism within the employment and skills field, which proves that such issues are high on the agenda in today’s media.”
