Industry experts gather at Softworld to discuss key HR issues

Aligning HR and business strategy, outsourcing ROI based HR processes and successful human capital management, were amongst the key issues affecting HR and payroll professionals to emerge from the Softworld HR & Payroll event, which took place from 3-4 March 2004 at the Grand Hall, Olympia, London.

Over 2000 HR and payroll professionals attended the event to learn more about these hot topics, as identified by independent consultants and experts such as SAKS Consulting, PA Consulting, Towers Perrin, the Association of Online Recruiters and GEE Publishing who all hosted masterclass sessions during the event.

The National Assembly for Wales and Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council also shared their experiences of implementing new systems, detailing the problems faced, and successes achieved.

Softworld HR & Payroll also featured an exhibition of around 75 leading suppliers of software solutions. On the showfloor, around half of exhibiting companies showcased new products and services, or made new announcements, these included:

  • CedAr announced the launch of CedAr Personnel, a new web-delivered integrated HR and payroll system.

  • Intellect unveiled the latest version of its Workforce HR and Personnel Management software, offering integrated fleet management, new functionality and a set of new tools deisgned to streamine and automate letter production.

  • ISGUS International announced the launch of its new 3rd generation addition to the Zeus product family to complement the Zeus Pro and Zeus Compact range of PC based time management systems.

  • Multitime Systems unveiled new research which revealed that employees will reciprocate positively once management takes recognition of their life challenges, through flexible working arrangements. In accordance with this, the company also showed its VisionTimeWeb, the interactive self-service time recording and HR records system.

  • Northgate Information Solutions announced that it has signed contracts worth £2.3 million for ResourceLink, its fully integrated and web-enabled HR solution.

  • PeopleSoft UK Ltd demonstrated the real value of Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions in a series of free seminars, presented in conjunction with Cedar Consulting, a PeopleSoft partner. The company also announced new research which revealed that performance management in the UK is still concentrated at an individual level, despite industry claims that personal appraisals are driven by organisational objectives.

  • AliceStreet launched its new Software product, the AliceStreet Conference Center.

    The next Softworld HR & Payroll event takes place from 20-21 October 2004 at the NEC, Birmingham.
