A report from the Telegraph tells how a survey by mental health charity MIND reveals that people believe that job problems and occupational stress are more likely to cause mental illness than marriage breakdowns, bereavement or lonliness.
The MIND survey is published today to mark World Mental Health Day on 10th October.
1,500 people were questioned as part of the survey which examined perceptions of mental illness. The results showed that 27% of the sample said that they would lie to their employer if they had to take time off because of stress or work pressures. Around a third of the sample said that they would be too embarrassed to tell freinds and neighbours that they had a mental illness.
