Looking for: Part-time, temporary zombies.
Skills required: Groaning, shuffling, scaring people, murmuring ‘BRAAAAINS’, seeking/eating brains and battling human survivors.
In what must be one of the first ever job adverts to be targeted directly at the living dead, Wish.co.uk is seeking ‘bright, responsible, rotting individuals’ to play zombies at its Zombie Manor House in Warrington, near Manchester
The zombie-fighting experience, which could offer a new take on team-building, takes place on Saturdays and Sundays every two weeks throughout the year and caters to up to 15 people who battle to survive against opponents with the annoying habit of coming back to life when killed.
As a result, Wish.co.uk is looking for candidates who have an ability to moan, enjoy “being slightly scabby”, like frightening people and, bizarrely given the previous attributes, are punctual. In return, they will get a “chance to work with like-minded zombies”, flexible working hours and competitive pay.
Auditions will be held on Thursday 28 June at Pineapple Studio’s in London’s Covent Garden from 2.30-5pm.
But at least the walking dead will get an interview. According to a survey by video interview software provider, Cammio, a worrying 36% of managers out of a sample of 500 said that they were too busy to meet live new hires before they started a new job.
One in 10 felt that they didn’t have the time to interview all of the candidates that they would like to, while two out of five respondents met an average of 11 candidates during the first round. Shortlists for the second round of meetings took on average about three weeks to compile.
