Oracle‘s chief executive Larry Ellison has unveiled a suite of enterprise social networking tools, which have been integrated with the software vendor’s HR applications in order to enable colleagues to collaborate more effectively together.
The company’s Oracle Social Network enables business users to identify and collaborate with the people that they need to within the enterprise using information contained both in the human resources system and their own private social networks. The software enables similar communication with suppliers, partners and customers.
Collaboration is enabled via offerings such as personal profiles, activity feeds, status updates, discussion forums, document-sharing, co-browsing and editing, instant messaging, email and web conferencing. The software supports a range of mobile devices such as Apple’s iPhones and iPads and Google’s Android devices.
“The biggest change over the past few years is social networking,” said Ellison. “Today, organisations want to connect their people, their applications, their processes and their customers. Oracle Social Network provides that – all the tools are integrated and employees can work from anywhere in the world with the devices best suited to their job.”
The tool is integrated with Oracle Fusion Applications and business intelligence tools so that users can receive real-time information feeds from these systems and auotmatically update them from the Oracle Social Network.
