Softworld Human Resources & Payroll Preview

SoftworldNow in its 9th year, Softworld Human Resources & Payroll will take place at the new ExCel venue in London from 7 – 8 February 2001. This year’s event is set to tackle the latest issues and trends affecting the industry and features leading exhibitors such as Peoplesoft, Softworks Computing and e-recruitment.com. The event also promises a host of new features for 2001:

E-Recruit Zone
With the e-business revolution impacting all areas within the organisation, online recruitment has become an integral part of any HR policy. The E-Recruit Zone offers a dedicated area within the event where visitors can see the range of solutions and suppliers specialising in this area, such as Job Partners, PeopleBank, e-recruitment.com, Peopleclick Ltd, Recruit magazine and Online Recruitment magazine.

Educational Focus
Once again, Softworld features a strong educational programme comprising breakfast briefings, executive seminars and vendor seminars, offering visitors advice and information on the latest issues and trends within the market.

Breakfast Briefings
Another new feature for 2001 will be a series of free Breakfast Briefings. Hosted by the top five consultancies such as KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers these hourly sessions start by assessing the importance of IT within people management. They will also provide visitors with a practical framework for key decision making when selecting and implementing new applications, what impact market trends have on this process and how to avoid common mistakes.

Executive Masterclasses
Delegates can gain independent advice and information on a range of business issues at the Executive Masterclasses. Hosted by leading consultancies and blue chip companies, the sessions include:


  • Leveraging self service applications to provide greater employee empowerment
  • Using e-commerce to deliver quality management reports
  • Integrating HR & Payroll
  • Work force metrics
  • Exploiting intellectual capital for greater knowledge management and competitive advantage
  • New Government legislation’s and the continuing effects on system and process development
  • Developing a web recruitment infrastructure
  • Using e-learning to educate your workforce

The sessions have been developed to support delegates in making the right decisions about technology within the HR and Payroll functions. Visitors can benefit from hearing case study examples taken from leading organisations highlighting real-life experiences of implementing new technology and tackling the key HR and payroll issues.

Vendor Focus
The showfloor will feature a number of new products, below are a selection of the products and services which will be showcased at the event:

FREE ASR Software! In celebration of its product HR Professional, ASR Computers, the suppliers of Innovative HR Solutions, will be holding a special free prize draw on its stand. Visitors to the stand (267) will be asked to complete a free prize draw coupon for a chance of winning Free ASR software.

Computers In Personnel Limited (stand 650) will be showing windows based HR software products covering personnel, recruitment and training administration, absence
management, skills matching, payroll integration, people development, and delivery via an intranet. Compel HR Decisions provides powerful data analysis tools. All systems work dynamically with one another, and are available as stand alone modules.

On stand 254, Cyberaid will be launching its TeamTrak Adaptiv range – an enterprise Payroll/HR solution for the new millennium. A completely rules-based product for flexibility, it is available in two ranges – either as a complete ready-made HR solution or with the addition of the customising toolset, enabling users to build the system to match their environment precisely. Cyberaid are also offering visitors to its stand free entry for their draw for a luxury weekend away for two.

erecruitment.com’s launch of its expanded vacancy range allows customers to recruit all their staff using the unique erecruitment solution. The improvements will give employers the scope to find the ideal candidate from its database of job seekers, created with its exclusive deal with the two largest ISPs in the country (Pod C in the e-recruitment zone).

Frontier Software plc providers of the CHRIS integrated Payroll and HR package will be showing range of outsourcing services from a fully managed service to a “traditional” bureau service that it is now providing (stand 454). ASP is also available. Frontier believes that their services provide greater control, flexibility and accessibility to current and historic data.

Grampian Software, exhibiting for the first time at Softworld (stand 568), see it as an opportunity to show its fully integrated Payroll and HR package, OpenPay – used by over 200 sites in the UK. Visitors to the stand, will have the opportunity to view the recently released Personnel and Absence modules.

On stand 260, Infosupport will be offering visitors a hands-on demonstration of HRinfo, the advanced HR intranet solution which now incorporates workflow. This powerful employee self-service personnel application is so user friendly that Infosupport will offer visitors a coffee and leave them alone to check it out themselves.

Intellect (stand 556) will be showing its Workforce product range, including Workforce Human Resource Manager, Workforce Training Manager, Workforce Recruitment Manager, Workforce Online, Workforce Public Sector, Workforce Client/Server and Intellect ASP.

On stand 569, Mitrefinch will be showing a new addition to its range of software – the HR Manager. This integrates with existing Mitrefinch products or acts as a stand-alone system. The software is intuitive and easy to use, and can be customised to suit any company. Features include automated reports, letter writing, mass change, email.

NotesFlow (stand 668) will be announcing the full launch of its automated Expenses System, which is a cost effective, robust workflow application for Lotus Notes users. It provides an easy-to-use, interactive, knowledge based environment for the fast and accurate execution of the expense claims process. Notesflow Expenses can be easily configured to the clients chart of accounts and implementation is straightforward and quick. The product can deliver substantial benefits to the client by reducing overhead cost through increased accuracy and efficiency.

Peopleclick, is the industry leading provider of Web based HR Recruitment & Management Solutions, with thousands of Corporate Clients worldwide (Pod E in the e-recruitment zone). On stand 554, Personic will launch a major new product, the Personic Exchange. The first of its kind in the marketplace, the Exchange represents the future of eRecruiting. The product consists of a Web-based platform that links organisations, staffing partners and subtier suppliers, facilitating B2B communications and transactions. Basic request, review, respond, and transaction execution capabilities provide the most comprehensive end to end solution available in the industry today.

Selima Software Ltd will be launching a new product called Vision on stand 468. Vision is the web extension payroll and HR solution. The product takes a different approach, to different principles – push technology not pull. The difference is that the Intra/Extra/Internet service for large corporates will actually be used rather than being an expensive trend. In its first installation, the savings are seen to be more than the cost of the whole payroll / HR installation.

On stand 661, Topaz will be showing Topaz EMS (Employee Management System) – A fully integrated and highly flexible payroll and personnel system with a modern and intuitive look and feel. The solution is functionally rich covering all areas of employee management including P11D production, vehicle management, personnel events diary, and document management as well as offering an optional integrated Time and Attendance module. EMS also allows multi level security as well as being both platform and database independent.
