“What does employee engagement mean to you?”
That’s the question we posed to attendees at the HRD conference in London in April 2013, in association with Sage.
Employee engagement is such a massive question at the moment – businesses are focusing on the people within their organisations and looking for ways to drive productivity. Engagement has emerged as a focal point. But what precisely is engagement? Does it differ between organisations?
These are massive questions and there are no easy answers. But encouraging debate and getting people talking about staff within their own organisations is absolutely crucial to hammering out the future of engagement, motivation and productivity.
Watch the video below to gain insight from business leaders including Steve Backley OBE, former Javelin world record holder.
Some of the comments from the video include:
- “Engagement is about providing the right stimulus to drive thinking and actions.”
- “Employee engagement is simply about raising the bar and improving performance as a whole.”
- “Staff must be engaged with each other’s journeys as well as their own.”
- “We need to know where we’re going and why we’re going there.”
- “Staff need to be on the same page as the management.”
- “If staff are not engaged, we will not deliver good customer service.”
