Dear All,

I’m wondering if anyone can shed any light on this issue, my mother in law currently works for the DWP and has been there for over a year.

The thing is she is now on her third temporary contract this time until January were this will be reviewed and decided should it be extended again. The question I have is the process compliant with employment law as I didn’t think companies could give so many temporary contracts.

Another thing is where do she stand regarding redundancy pay when they do decide that that her contract shouldn’t be extended. Is she entitled to one month pay like other DWP workers or because she is on a temporary contract would this not apply.

If anyone can shed any light on this it would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks,

Robert Carlin
