I work part-time Mon- Fri 1.00pm to 4.45pm and my employers have set a monthly meeting to discuss department news/changes and administration information at 4.30 to 5.30 so I can only attend for 15 minutes or have to alter my child care arrangements to fit in with these meetings. The meetings are often proponed at short notice.

I have asked if the meeting can be timed so that I’m able to attend without alter my arrangements and have been told that the meeting have to be a the end of the working day (9-5.30) as the phones are quieter then.

Is this fair to part-time staff?

Can they do this?
