This may not fall into the usual remit of posts, so please forgive if inappropriate, but I was hoping someone may be able to help me.I am 5 months in to a new job, and the trial period is 6 months. When I joined I told them I had a heart attack some years ago. A couple of months ago I was told I have to have bypass surgery and it is likely to be by the end of the year (so good chance of still in trial period), I have not taken any time off sick, when I have had a hospital appointment i have taken it as holiday. I have been totally honest with my employer and as I wont be able to drive for 6 weeks after the op have offered to work from home during this period. They tell me they do not know if they can keep me on, and will make the decision when I get my hospital date.
Although I understand how diifcult it is to run a business, and I do not want to get confrontational, what are my rights in this situation.
If they can do this, can they start my notice on production of the sick note?
The additional worry of losing my job is something I could well do without.
