Hi

I wonder if you can help me. I have been on maternity leave and applying for jobs in my last month off. My employer knows I am looking, after nearly nine years with the company, I am looking for a new challenge and also more money now that I have a family – I am the main bread winner.

I have been to a few interviews, but haven’t mentioned that I am on maternity leave. I had planned to, should they ask something along the lines of “what projects are you working on at the moment?”, but there was never an opportune moment. I guess that I also wanted to be judged on my own merits.

If I got offered the job and you were my prospective employer, would you feel that I had been dishonest by not telling you about my maternity leave. Would you think any less of me?

I hate dishonesty and integrity is very important to me, I don’t want to start off on the wrong foot.

Any thought are welcome

Many thanks
Sarah
