I was lucky enough to recieve two job offers on the same day, one of which matched my current wage, the other representing a two point increase.

I went for the latter, turned down the alternative post, and now have been told I will be starting at a lower point on the pay spine that was initially quoted.

Apparently this is policy for starting on a new grade, but I did not start at the bottom of the grade scale in my current job, so there is certainly precendent.

Also the salary advertised in the further particulars was a bracket, not a finite number, suggesting that there is potenetial to begin earning anywhere within that bracket, rather than the lowest point.

Does anybody know what my rights are as I feel that I have been mislead, and maybe taken the wrong post.

All help appreciated.
