I work for a manufacturing organisation that is adopting lean practices We are currently looking at training individuals who can flex into other roles (at higher grade levels) as and when required and are considering the best methods of compensation. We are considering paying premiums for those periods of time when someone flexes up into another role but I am interested in what other organisations are doing – are these premiums being used or are you using different methods of reward, such as a more permanent arrangement that is incorporated into the permanent base pay.
