We are asking an increasing number of our staff to go on assignment to UK client sites for short-to-medium length assignments (over one month and less than 6).

We have well established overseas terms and conditions of employment, so the concept and practise of asking people to stay away from home on business is not new to us.

Do other companies pay an incentive to staff when sending them on UK assignments, given that they will be away from home from Monday to Friday? These incentives would be in addition to expense limits and could be by way of salary uplift, end of project bonus or enhanced allowances.

For information, we are a software engineering company paying market-rate salaries.

Any information gratefully received – many thanks.
