I work for an organisation producing films, commercials & broadcast series. Historically, this industry pays different rates for the same job in different sectors. e.g. film & commercials work tends to pay more than broadcast work. This difference is pay is generally dictated by the budgets available for each production – the bigger the budget – the more we can pay. We’ve been doing some work on equal pay of late & the fact that there are some people doing the same job but for different pay is causing a lot of concern. I’ve thought of the justifiable reasons for paying people differently for fundamentally the same job & budget size doesn’t appear to be one of them.
Has anyone had similar experiences? Does anyone work in the same industry as me? or can anyone provide some advice on this?
Thanks in advance.
