Utilising an “annualised hours” working pattern, we have a large population of staff studying full-time at the local university. Consequently, each year our leavers increase from Jun-Sept as our students go home for the summer or take time out and travel abroad. Some of these leavers move to new careers however, I feel we lose a majority of students because we have no policy to offer them 3 months off work during the summer break. Many return in September and apply to us again for a role, and we spend valuable time and money interviewing, processing documents and training! It would be difficult to offer unpaid leave to this group of staff for 3 months as we would not wish to discriminate against other part-time workers

Can anyone provide a solution to this issue please?
