Recently I resigned from my company on 1 months notice. In my email I clearly stated that I had an offer from a rival company and one offer from a customer.

Initially I opted for the role with the customer and everything was going smooth until last week when they withdrew the offer. A day later I received a new offer from the rival comopany and with no real options I accepted.

I advised my line manager today and he said that I would need to restart the clock on my notice period and impose 1 month of garden leave.

I have checked my contract with regards to garden leave and all it states is that the company may at their discretion place an employee on garden leave for all or part of their notice period.

Can they therefore turn the clock back and make me serve another 30 day notice period ?
