An employee has been off work for about 5 months and is claiming damages for his injury which he says happended at work. He has been waiting for surgery which should mean he will make a full recovery, but due to not receiving any pay other than statutory, has mounting financial difficulties, including facing eviction. Once he has had surgery, their is a possibility that he may be unable to perform his duties, but this will need to be assessed at that time. In the meantime, if the company were to offer assistance, i.e. pay for private, or offer financial assistance, would this be taken as accepting liability for his injury?
We want to help, but do not want to run the risk of making matters worse.
