The management at a friend’s workplace have informally told him that they will be implementing a scheme whereby they will be deducting holiday entitlement off employees who are on long term sick. The longer an employee is off sick the more holidays will be deducted. At the moment there are only 2/3 people on long term sick and the scheme is meant to put other employees off taking long term sick.

I have not heard of such a scheme before, is this legal?
