As a result of a consultation, a HR Admin Band 4 person has had their job re-evaluated and then down banded to a Band 3 (pay protection applies) automatic slot in.

They have produced their person specification as originally advertised and that was given to them along with their contract when they started. They have worked for the NHS for just over 3 years, 14mths in this department.

They have also recently been acting into a Band 5 Advisor role for 3 months Jan – March, supporting the HR Manager in change projects, sitting on interview panels etc.

The Person spec they produced states ESSENTIAL CRITERIA for Senior HR Manager (Band 4)

It talks about ability to work unsupervised, managing own worload using own initiative, knowledge and current thinking of effective and efficient HR Practice, knowledge of impending employment law and ability to apply in work environment.

The Band 3 job description and person spec does not require the person to have ANY HR experience at all….this person states they have been working on the orignal person spec as sent to them and is stating they should not be down banded, possibly even banded upwards

What can we do?
