I have a contract of employment signed by a representative from HR and myself for a position within a new company. The contract didn’t state a start date but I verbally agreed the 4th August with a manager within the department I would be working back in May. This would take account of my twelve weeks notice period and two weeks holiday.
The above manager contacted me late last week and stated that if I do not start by the 21st July there may not be a position for me within the company. There will be a meeting that week to redistribute work and there is a possibility I may be surplus to requirements.

Has a company the right to cancel my contract, terms and conditions? And if so what are my rights?
