As a new small business, we have just completed our first annual appraisal of staff. The majority of staff have never experienced a formal or structured appraisal system in their previous careers. One employee is not happy to sign her appraisal but is unable to give specific examples of which scores she is disputing, or why she feels she should have been scored differently. I’m reasonably confident to answer the written diatribe we’ve received critisising the appraisal system itself, but can you tell me, after her appeal has been heard, what do we do if she still refuses to sign it – and this years objectives which are borne out of it? Is this an issue which could go to disciplinary on our part or tribunal on hers? Thanks
