I am a third of the way through an MSc that my employer has paid for in advance (GBP 12,000). I have established that there is now immediate opportunity for advancing in my profession within the company as more senior positions will remain occupied for years to come (barring the unexpected of course). Consequently I intend to seek another job, but what are my liabilities.

I signed a letter to agree that I would have to pay ‘pro rata’ if I left before completing 3 yrs employment post training. However, I am still 2 years from course completion so what are my options?

Can the cost of other training courses I have recently attended as part of my authorised employee development plan also be thrown into the mix and add to my liabilities?

Clearly I cannot discuss this with my employer until I declare my intention to leave.
