A line manager made a verbal offer of employment to an applicant. Nothing has been signed and no contracts have been exchanged. Subsequently we have been made aware of certain ‘facts’ concerning the individual which make them totally unsuitable for the position.

I use the term ‘facts’, because they were accused of behaving in an unacceptable manner in a previous job, but they left before the disciplinary procedure had been completed.

I assume (!) that there are no impediments to us withdrawing the offer.

Any thoughts/comments? Thanks in advance.
