My wife has recently informed her company that she would like to take maternity leave, but would like to return to work part time, but to a view of working full time at a later date. Currently the job is full time.

I heard recently that there was some case law where a tribunal sided with the employee, where she wrote “… would like to return to work part time, but to a view of working full time at a later date…” and was refused.

I have not been able to find this on the web, but most sites state that employers must take the request seriously, as their thought process would be seriously scrutinsed by a tribunal.

Can anybody shed some light on this?
