We are a training organisation and have a member of staff, who has previously worked in the same field in Israel, coming to us on a training programme for two years from a specialist college. In order to qualify as a veterinary nurse she has to have worked 3290 hours in a training practice and attend day release once a week at the college. My understanding is that on a student visa she can only ‘work’ 20 hours per week. All of our other students are employed in a training position, attend college either on block release or day release and are paid a full salary and will obtain the same qualification. My question is are we able to pay her for 40 hours a week if she works the 40 hours, as this is what is required to fulfill her college course requirement?
