One of our employees has gone missing; having had unauthorised absence for 3 days, I wrote to him to ask him to come in and we would conduct an investigation.
The letter was returned to myself as “addressee gone away”. None of his work colleagues know where he is, although they suspect he has gone south. His next of kin on file is a girlfriend who is now an ex-girlfriend.
The contact phone number I have for him is consistently going to voicemail, and I have had the police contact me as he has been reported (by a colleague) as a “missing person”.
I assume I am safe to terminate his contract with us – is there anything else I should be doing? I am a little frustrated as I cannot write to formally let him know!!
