An operations manager recently contacted me and requested we terminate a member of his teams employment contract for poor  performance, the employee has 13 months service with the firm.  I advised him we should manage the employees performance through the company performance management procedure, however he insists we should proceed with terminating the employees employment.

Can someone advise me what steps I should now be taking and what risks I should be highlighting to the manager should he want to pursue a termination of employment.
