We are employing a person 23.5 hours per week working over 5 days. If they work the same hours each day then they would be entitled to 23. However one of the days will be a half day. What is the best method of calculating their entitlement so it is fair. Should I still calculate the half day as a full day entitlement? Secondly if the employee was to ask for half a day’s holiday when their hours are 9.30 to 1.00 and 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 pm should the half day be half of the actual hours worked?
