If you are an Apple fan, you may have read that Apple could release a new 4-inch iPhone next year that “resembles an upgraded iPhone 5S,” according to a report by respected KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The device is targeted to be released in the first half of 2016, according to Kuo, and will be powered by the A9 chip seen in the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. I don’t want to blog about Apple but rather about Kuo as I am sure his name and reputation is one to watch in the future. Why? Because he has a strong, track record in predicting new launches. He correctly predicted the launch of the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones, as well the two sizes of the Apple Watch, the new 12-inch MacBook, and pretty much the entire spec sheet for the iPhone 6S! This had me thinking about how we can all develop a positive impact with others and earn a positive reputation. But developing your personal impact and personal effectiveness requires you to consider how you come across to others and what you can do to create the kind of impression you want. The key is to change the very impression you make without having to change your whole personality (which you can’t).
So when it comes to developing your personal impact, remember that it actually goes hand in hand with developing – not changing – yourself. It’s done through looking at strengths and developing what you already have, rather than trying to fix any weaknesses.
Here are 5 Top Tips for making a positive impact with others. (I’m sure Kuo has them in abundance!).
1.Be a deliverer
Develop a track record of achievement.
Talk to people about the results you’re getting – not simply how busy you are.
Make sure you always contribute more than you cost.

2.Be proactive
Get to work on things now before they start to work on you.
Be known as a ‘mover and shaker’.
Be someone who makes things happen and actively seeks out responsibility.

3.Be enthusiastic
Enthusiasm is contagious (and so is a lack of it!).
Use positive, action-orientated language – can, will, have.
Become known as an upbeat, ‘can do’ person.
“If you aren’t filled with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm.” Vince Lombard.
4.Be In Tune
Learn how to rapidly build rapport with other people.
Be genuinely interested in others, listen more than you speak.
We all relate most to people we feel are like us – so use the words, phrases and gestures they use, be more like them.
“You can master more in two monthly by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” Dale Carnegie.
Why should people be interested in you unless you’re first interested in them?
5.Be Different
Lead on the pack, don’t take a back seat and simply follow it.
You are unique – so be distinctive, avoid being another easily forgotten ‘me too’ person.
Give people a positive reason to remember you.
