Management Bandwidth definition

Management bandwidth is the finite time and resources that senior managers in a company possess. It is most often mentioned when discussing the role and responsibilities of leaders and that many leaders take on more than they can realistically and reasonably commit to.

Because senior managers are decision-makers, they have more impact on the business as a whole than employees. This means they must give their time selectively to ensure that decisions are made based on informed reasoning. If they give insufficient time to a decision, they could make that negatively affects the business.

The term bandwidth is borrowed from information technology and refers to the amount of data that a communications line can transmit.
