pp_default1

With the help of HR and behavioural change specialists, Jobcentre Plus has begun work to offer business a better recruitment option.

The pilot programme, which took place in Greenwich, focused on addressing the additonal pressure on the nationwide service because of the recession. No longer is the jobcentre dealing with typical jobseekers alone: the recently made redundant and graduates are widening the range of customers and the service hopes to change to offer an improved service to customers and business partners alike.

The pilot involved behavioural change experts TWP and Jonna Hussey, HR Business Partner for HR Greenwich and Director of You Consulting, who constructed an inspirational workshop for key Jobcentre Plus and local business stakeholders in the Greenwich area. The event was supported by David Amos, Senior Policy Advisor at the Cabinet Office. The goal was to identify and put plans in place to increase long-term stakeholder engagement with Jobcentre Plus and scope out its future development.

This landmark session marks the beginning of developments within Jobcentre Plus aiming to strengthen resources, and provide business modelling for products and services which can overcome the challenges of the economic downturn ensuring long-term high performance for Jobcentre Plus.

David Amos said: “We now have a wealth of information and action plans to address the challenges Jobcentre Plus face and the skills they require to deal with the economic downturn and the evolving nature of working practices today.”

The event forms the blueprint for a model to be rolled out on a national scale ensuring action plans are devised within all local boroughs and regions to build brighter futures for the unemployed and provide businesses with excellent candidates for their vcancies.
