This week WeSpire released its survey report, The Driving Forces of Employee Engagement.
The survey explores the relationship between formal employee engagement programming and employee satisfaction and engagement.
The good news: Overall, 79 percent of of respondents reported that they are at least somewhat excited about their jobs.
The bad news: 30 percent of respondents said that their employer does not have an official employee engagement strategy.
In our research we explored how employee engagement levels vary based on whether or not a company offers employee engagement programs such as volunteering, giving, CSR and more.
While over 80 percent of employees whose companies offer such programs are at least somewhat excited about their jobs, just 60 percent of employees whose companies offer no employee engagement programs feel the same.
The good news is that nearly 40 percent of employees feel that their manager or boss is very supportive in their participation in employee engagement programs such as volunteering events. In fact, the primary reason that employees choose not to participate in such programs is their perceived lack of time.
In order to combat this idea, organizations need to show that employee engagement programming and positive impact programs like volunteering, giving and sustainability are core to the company – not an extracurricular.
