Case Study: Pernod Ricard standardises global talent management

globe_0

Pernod Ricard is in the process of standardising its talent management processes across the world in a bid to support business growth more effectively.

The multinational supplier of wines and spirits plans to consolidate a fragmented assortment of talent management procedures and applications into a single Software-as-a-Service-based system from Taleo that will operate across its 70 subsidiaries in America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Bruno Rain, Pernod Ricard’s managing director in charge of HR and corporate social responsibility, said that the firm’s new talent management strategy would “herald a new era of agility, innovation and business growth”, while also creating a “genuine source of lasting competitive advantage”.

The organisation, which owns brands such as Jameson’s Irish Whisky and Beefeater gin, operates a decentralised business model comprising six primary brand companies such as The Absolut Company and Martell Mumm Perrier Jouet.

The first phase of the global implementation will cover performance management. The aim here is to help managers objectively assess how employees are performing against key organisational goals and, if necessary, to provide them with suitable learning and development activities.

Next on the list is compensation management. The goal is to enable the supplier to introduce a consistent approach towards rewarding top performers across the world and to promote the creation of a more performance-based culture.

Learning management applications, which includes social learning, collaboration and content management functionality, will be implemented next and will also be aligned with Pernod Ricard University’s systems as part of the process.

The entire deployment, which is expected to take six months, will build on an existing Taleo recruitment offering, which provides the HR department with a global view of hiring activity and staff access to all company vacancies.
